Balika Vadhu (Hindi: Bālikā Vadhū, literally "Child Bride") was an Indian Hindi-language television drama series that aired on Colors TV from 21 July 2008 to 31 July 2016. Produced by Sphere Origins, the show dealt with the social practice of child marriage in rural Rajasthan and followed the life of its protagonist Anandi from childhood through adulthood. Subtitled Kachchi Umar Ke Pakke Rishte, the serial became one of the longest-running prime-time fiction shows on Indian television, completing more than 2,200 episodes over eight years.

The series was set in the fictional village of Jaitsar in Rajasthan and centred on Anandi, a young girl married off as a child to Jagdish "Jagya" Singh, the grandson of the imposing matriarch Kalyani Devi. The narrative used the household of the Singh family to depict the customs, hierarchies and gender expectations associated with rural Rajasthani life, while progressively engaging with themes such as widowhood, female literacy, dowry, domestic violence and political participation by women.
The show was conceived as a socially oriented drama at a time when Colors TV, owned by Viacom18, was newly launched in 2008. Balika Vadhu was among the channel's first flagship programmes and contributed substantially to its early ratings success.
The serial featured a large ensemble cast that changed over the course of its long run, partly because of the time leaps the storyline employed.
Balika Vadhu was produced by Sphere Origins under producers Sunjoy Waddhwa and Comall Sunjoy W. Outdoor sequences for the show were largely filmed in and around Karjat in Maharashtra and on location in Rajasthan. The story was developed by writer Purnendu Shekhar, who drew on his interest in social subjects connected to rural India.
The serial was widely watched in its early years and was for several seasons among the top-rated Hindi general entertainment shows. It is credited with helping establish Colors TV as a leading Hindi entertainment channel and with bringing the issue of child marriage into mainstream prime-time discussion. The show was also noted for raising the profile of debate around social reform within the conventions of the saas-bahu (family) drama format.
Balika Vadhu won several Indian Telly Awards and Indian Television Academy Awards across categories during its run, including recognition for performances by Surekha Sikri and Avika Gor. The show was discussed in academic and policy commentary on media portrayals of child marriage, and was referenced by activists working on the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006.
The series was dubbed and broadcast in several languages outside India, including in Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Vietnam and parts of the Middle East, where it gained a substantial viewership. Reports indicated particularly strong reception in Afghanistan, where it was telecast in Dari translation.
A follow-up series titled Balika Vadhu 2 premiered on Colors TV in August 2021, continuing the franchise's focus on the theme of child marriage with a new storyline and cast.
