Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) is a state public university located in Dharwad, Karnataka, India. Legal education in Karnataka was earlier administered through the law faculties of various general universities such as the University of Mysore, Bangalore University, Karnatak University and others. To bring uniformity, improve standards, and provide focused academic governance to the field, the state legislature created a dedicated law university through a state enactment, the Karnataka State Law University Act. The university was set up with its headquarters at Dharwad, a city in northern Karnataka with a long association with higher education and home to several major institutions including Karnatak University.
