Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT) is a state technical university located in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. The institution is named after Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, the educationist and freedom fighter who founded the Banaras Hindu University. The institution traces its origins to an engineering college established in Gorakhpur during the post-independence period to meet the growing demand for technical education in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh. It functioned for several decades as an engineering college affiliated to a state university, before being upgraded to the status of a state-funded technical university by an Act of the Uttar Pradesh State Legislature. Following this upgrade, the institution was renamed in honour of Madan Mohan Malaviya and began awarding its own degrees.
