Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) is a state public university located in Rohtak, in the Indian state of Haryana. Established in 1976, it is named after the 19th-century social reformer and founder of the Arya Samaj, Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati. The university was founded by an Act of the Haryana Legislative Assembly in 1976, originally under the name Rohtak University.
