Shiv-Hari

Overview

Shiv–Hari is the name given to the Indian music director duo comprising Shivkumar Sharma, a noted santoor player, and Hariprasad Chaurasia, a celebrated flutist. The pairing brings together two leading exponents of Indian classical instrumental music, who have collaborated on classical compositions as well as on film scores.

Beyond their individual classical work, Shiv–Hari are widely associated with Hindi cinema, where they have composed soundtracks primarily for films directed by Yash Chopra. Their style draws on classical idioms while adapting to the requirements of mainstream film music.

The duo's collaboration reflects a broader tradition of classical musicians contributing to Indian film music, and their work has been recognised as a distinctive partnership between two instrumentalists from different classical disciplines.
