Shiva Rajkumar is an Indian actor who works predominantly in Kannada cinema. The eldest son of the Kannada matinee idol Dr. Rajkumar, he made his film debut in 1986 and has since featured in over a hundred films across more than three decades. Known by admirers as the "Century Star" and "Hat-trick Hero", he is regarded as one of the leading figures of contemporary Kannada cinema and has held a prominent place in the Karnataka film industry since the late 1980s.

Shiva Rajkumar was born on 12 July 1962 in Madras, the eldest son of Dr. Rajkumar and Parvathamma Rajkumar. He grew up amid the Kannada film industry, with his father being a long-standing icon of Karnataka's cultural life. His brothers Raghavendra Rajkumar and Puneeth Rajkumar also entered the film industry, with Puneeth rising as a leading actor before his death in 2021.
Shiva Rajkumar received his education in Chennai and Bengaluru. In 1989, he married Geetha, the daughter of former Karnataka chief minister S. Bangarappa, linking the family to the political sphere of Karnataka. The couple have two daughters.
Shiva Rajkumar made his acting debut with Anand (1986), directed by R. Ramamurthy and produced under the family banner Sri Vajreshwari Combines. The film was a commercial success and established him as a leading man in Kannada cinema. He followed this with Ratha Sapthami (1986) and Manmatha, both of which performed well at the box office. The hat-trick of successful films at the start of his career earned him the sobriquet "Hat-trick Hero".
Through the late 1980s and 1990s, he appeared in a string of films across genres, including family dramas, action films and romantic subjects. Notable films from this period include Mutthina Haara (1990), set against the backdrop of the Second World War, which received critical acclaim, and Janumada Jodi (1996), a romantic drama that became one of the major commercial successes of the decade.
The 2000s saw Shiva Rajkumar appear in a range of action and mass-oriented films. Jogi (2005), directed by Prem, was a major commercial and critical success, and is widely regarded as one of the defining films of his career. Other notable films from the period include Sri Ramulayya, A.K. 47, Janma, and Bhagyada Balegara.
He continued to lead films into the 2010s and 2020s, completing a century of films during this phase, which earned him the title "Century Star". Later notable works include Bhajarangi, Killing Veerappan (directed by Ram Gopal Varma, 2016), Tagaru (2018), and Bhajarangi 2 (2021). He also took on supporting and ensemble roles in pan-Indian projects, including Ghost and appearances in productions extending beyond Kannada cinema.
Apart from film, Shiva Rajkumar has hosted Kannada television programmes, including the Kannada version of the reality show Kicchana Kanasu-style talent and quiz formats. He has also lent his presence to social and charitable causes connected to the Rajkumar family, including the Shri Rajkumar Charitable Trust.
Shiva Rajkumar has received multiple Karnataka State Film Awards and Filmfare Awards South over the course of his career, recognising his performances in films such as Mutthina Haara, Janumada Jodi, Jogi and Tagaru. He has also been honoured at various Kannada film industry forums for his long innings in cinema.
As the eldest son of Dr. Rajkumar, Shiva Rajkumar has been a central figure in continuing the legacy of one of Kannada cinema's most influential families.
