Sunil Kumar (born 1960) is an Indian politician and former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. He currently serves as the Rural Works Minister in the Government of Bihar and represents the Bhore constituency in the Bihar Legislative Assembly.
Before entering politics, Kumar had a long career in the Bihar Police. He served as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Patna district for more than six years from 1997. He retired in 2020 as the Director General-cum-Managing Director of the Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation, after which he joined the Janata Dal (United).
In the Government of Bihar, he has held the portfolios of Education, Science and Technology, Technical Education, and Higher Education. He subsequently took charge of the Rural Works Department.
Kumar completed his MA in History from St Stephen's College, New Delhi, in 1984.
