Background

Tiger Shroff was born on 2 March 1990 in Mumbai to actor Jackie Shroff and producer Ayesha Shroff. The nickname "Tiger" was given to him in childhood and he later adopted it as his screen name. He has a younger sister, Krishna Shroff, who is involved in fitness and entrepreneurship.

He trained in martial arts from a young age and holds a fifth-degree black belt in taekwondo. He is also trained in gymnastics and several other martial arts disciplines, which became central to his on-screen persona.

Career

Debut and early work

Shroff made his acting debut in Heropanti (2014), produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Sabbir Khan. The film, which featured Kriti Sanon in her debut role, performed well commercially and earned Shroff the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.

Action films and franchise roles

He followed up with Bang Bang! (2014, in a smaller role) and starred in Baaghi (2016), again directed by Sabbir Khan, opposite Shraddha Kapoor. Baaghi launched what became a recurring action franchise for him. He next appeared in A Flying Jatt (2016), a superhero film directed by Remo D'Souza.

In 2018, he featured in Baaghi 2, directed by Ahmed Khan, which became one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of that year. He starred in Student of the Year 2 (2019) under Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, followed by War (2019), directed by Siddharth Anand and co-starring Hrithik Roshan, which became a major commercial success and a part of the YRF Spy Universe.

He reprised his role in Baaghi 3 (2020). Subsequent releases include Heropanti 2 (2022) and Ganapath (2023). He returned to the screen in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (2024), directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, opposite Akshay Kumar.
