Overview

Dané van Niekerk (born 14 May 1993) is a South African cricketer from Pretoria. She was educated at Hoërskool Centurion and went on to represent South Africa in international cricket across all three formats.

A right-handed batter and leg break bowler, van Niekerk made her international debut in 2009 and played Test matches, One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals for South Africa through 2021. Her all-round abilities, combining top-order batting with leg spin, made her a key figure in the South African women's side.

Van Niekerk served as captain of the South African women's team between 2016 and 2021, leading the side in international fixtures during that period. During her career, she became the first bowler to take 100 wickets in Women's One Day Internationals for South Africa, a notable milestone in the country's women's cricket history.
