Overview
Government Medical College, Ernakulam, previously known as Cochin Medical College, is a medical college in the state of Kerala, situated at Kalamassery, Kochi. It was originally established in 1999 by the Co-operative Academy of Professional Education under the Department of Co-operation, Government of Kerala. The institution was subsequently taken over by the Government of Kerala and converted into a government institution on 11 December 2013.

Academics and institution
The college offers the MBBS undergraduate programme, with an annual intake of 110 students. The intake stood at 100 students until 2019. Postgraduate courses are offered in three clinical departments — Medicine, Paediatrics and Psychiatry — and in two paraclinical departments, namely Pathology and Microbiology.
In addition to the MBBS and postgraduate medical programmes, the campus houses a College of Nursing, along with courses in biomedical engineering and operation theatre technology. A new superspeciality block associated with the institution is under construction, with 60% of the work reported to be completed.
Facilities on the campus include a cafeteria, gymnasium and library, as well as sporting amenities such as a football stadium, basketball court, volleyball court and indoor badminton courts.
