Overview

The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad or IIM-A) is a business school located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It is one of the Indian Institutes of Management and is widely regarded as a leading management institution in India, sometimes referred to as the Harvard Business School of India.

The institute was established in 1961. It was founded by Vikram Sarabhai and Kasturbhai Lalbhai, with Ravi J. Matthai serving as its first director. Kamla Chowdhary was among the other notable contributors associated with the institute in its early years.

IIM Ahmedabad offers master's degree programmes in management and in agri-business management, along with a fellowship programme and a range of executive training programmes. The institute was accorded the status of an Institute of National Importance by the Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India in 2017.
