Overview
The Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) is a mono-superspeciality hospital dedicated to liver and biliary diseases, located in South West Delhi, India. It was established by the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi as an autonomous institute under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.
ILBS was set up with the objective of functioning as a dedicated international centre of excellence for the diagnosis and management of liver and biliary diseases, and for providing advanced training and research in the field of hepato-biliary sciences. Shiv Kumar Sarin served as its founding director.
In addition to clinical care, ILBS functions as a teaching hospital. It has been accorded the status of a Deemed University by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India, enabling it to offer academic programmes in its specialised areas.
