Overview
Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital, also known as NRS Medical College and formerly as Campbell Medical College, is a public medical school and hospital located in Kolkata, India. Situated in Sealdah, in the heart of Kolkata, the institution combines undergraduate and postgraduate medical education with a tertiary care teaching hospital. It is among the older medical institutions in eastern India, having been established in the late nineteenth century.

Background
The institution was established on 1 December 1873 as the Sealdah Medical School. Over the course of its history it was renamed Campbell Medical College, and subsequently took its present name in honour of Nil Ratan Sircar, after whom it is now known. The college and its attached hospital have since grown into one of the principal centres of medical training and patient care in Kolkata, located close to the Sealdah railway terminus and serving a large urban catchment.
