During his tenure with UTV and Disney, he was associated with the production of a number of commercially and critically successful Hindi films. Roy Kapur Films was set up as an independent venture intended to back filmmakers with a focus on writer- and director-led projects across genres.

Siddharth Roy Kapur is the elder brother of actors Aditya Roy Kapur and Kunaal Roy Kapur, and has also served as President of the Producers Guild of India.

Operations

The company is engaged in the financing, development, and production of Hindi-language theatrical features as well as series for streaming platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+ Hotstar. It typically partners with major studios and streamers for distribution rather than operating its own distribution arm.

  • The Sky Is Pink — directed by Shonali Bose, starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim, based on the life of motivational speaker Aisha Chaudhary.

Significance

Roy Kapur Films is part of a generation of producer-led Indian companies that emerged after the consolidation of major studios such as UTV with global media groups. By focusing on a slate that combines theatrical features with original streaming series, the company reflects the broader shift in the Indian entertainment industry towards multi-platform content production. Its projects have engaged with subjects ranging from historical military history to contemporary biographical drama, and have featured both established stars and emerging talent.
