The YRF Spy Universe is an Indian media franchise and shared cinematic universe of Hindi-language espionage action films produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF). Built around fictional agents of India's external intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW), the franchise has emerged as one of the most commercially successful film series in Indian cinema. It is the first major shared universe of its kind in Bollywood and is centred on interlinked characters from the films Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3, and War 2.

Yash Raj Films, founded by Yash Chopra in 1970 and headed since the 2000s by his son Aditya Chopra, launched the universe with Ek Tha Tiger in 2012, directed by Kabir Khan. The film introduced "Tiger", a R&AW agent, played by Salman Khan, and his Pakistani ISI counterpart Zoya, played by Katrina Kaif. Although it was conceived as a standalone film, its commercial success led to a sequel and eventually to the conscious creation of a connected universe.
The decision to formally build a shared universe was confirmed publicly around the release of Pathaan (2023), with YRF acknowledging that War (2019) and the Tiger films were part of the same fictional world. The universe draws thematic inspiration from Western franchises such as the James Bond and Mission: Impossible series, but is distinguished by its grounding in Indian intelligence concerns and cross-border narratives involving Pakistan, China, and other regions.
| Year | Film | Director | Lead cast |

| 2012 | Ek Tha Tiger | Kabir Khan | Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif |

Continuity between the films has been established through cameo appearances and shared plot references. Salman Khan appeared as Tiger in a sequence in Pathaan, and Shah Rukh Khan reciprocated with an appearance as Pathaan in Tiger 3. Hrithik Roshan's Kabir is referenced and acknowledged as part of the same agency network. These crossovers, particularly the Salman Khan–Shah Rukh Khan sequence, were marketed as a major draw and contributed significantly to box-office performance.
Pathaan (January 2023) became one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of all time, with worldwide collections reported above the ₹1,000 crore mark, and was credited with reviving the theatrical fortunes of mainstream Hindi cinema after the pandemic. Tiger 3, released during Diwali 2023, and War in 2019 were also among the top-grossing Hindi releases of their respective years. The franchise as a whole has been one of the most lucrative properties of Yash Raj Films.
The Spy Universe is widely regarded as a landmark experiment in Hindi cinema for several reasons:
Critical response to the films has been mixed. Reviewers have generally praised the action design, production scale, and star presence, while criticising plot logic and stereotypical depictions of antagonists. Some commentators have discussed the franchise's portrayal of cross-border tensions and its political subtext, while others have viewed the films primarily as escapist commercial entertainment.
